When a little girl names Izzy goes to the ocean she is literally Wowed! Every aspect of ocean life is covered in this book through amazing large mural-like illustrations. Examples are: Wow Fish! Wow Shells! Wow Coral Reef! Wow Sunken Ship! Some of them are so detailed that a page must be folded out. Most of the animals and creatures featured in these fantastic spreads are labeled in small writing.
Although the art style was not my favorite (too blurry/messy), I think children will enjoy the bright colors and high level of activity. This book is deceptively simple –while a young child might enjoy the overall effect, a new reader could start to understand the names of the objects as labeled. There really is a lot of information packed into this book and would it be worth purchasing for your school library.
