Ultraviolet by RJ Anderson -ADVISABLE

Anderson, RJ Ultraviolet, 264 pgs. Carolrhoda Books, 2011. $17.95. Swear Count: 0 Sexual Content: PG
Alison has confessed to a murder, a murder she doesn’t remember. Granted she did hate the victim Tori, but murder? So far she isn’t in jail because she is in a mental institution. Slowly her memories of that terrible day come back to her. Something happened, something bad, but just what happened is confusing. 16 year old Alison has always been different, mixing up sounds and smells and colors. It’s only when she meets the exotic Dr. Faraday that she can begin to unravel her own mysteries, but will she find her way out of the even greater ones that have found her?
This hard to put down story add all the normal teenage drama and confusion to a interesting mystery that includes real human traits that have taken on almost supernatural proportions. A few big twists later and you have a really great story! The worldview of the main character felt authentic and the portrayal of her emotions and history provided depth to her character. Overall, a incredibly intriguing read.
