Dreadnought by Mark Walden

Walden, Mark Dreadnought, 304 p. Simon & Shuster, MAY 2011.  $16.99.  Violence PG-13; Language: PG (14 swears, 0 ‘f’).  Though Otto and his friends managed to defeat Number One and his nefarious plans, not every member of G.L.O.V.E. believes their version of how events played out.  When the gang is taken to view Diabolus Darkdoom’s new headquarters before heading off to the dreaded Arctic survival test, they are all caught up in a treacherous plot to overthrow Darkdoom – a plot orchestrated by The Disciples, an ultra-secret evil organization who are more interested in a high body count rather then focused evil.  I have enjoyed all of the H.I.V.E. series so far – especially since the kids are always acting more like heroes, rather than the villains they supposedly are.  Lots of danger and action to keep your reluctant readers engaged!  MS – ESSENTIAL.
