Lyon, George Ella and Tillotson, Katherine All the water in the world, 40 pgs. Atheneum/Richard Jackson Books, 2011. $10.87. EARLY READER
A story of the water cycle, this book answers the question of ‘where water comes from’. Students can read about the thirsty air licking up water from lakes and guzzling it from oceans until the clouds are too crowded to hold it and it finally rains. They find out that all living things need water.
Prefect for a Pre-K or early Elementary student this book is a great adjunct to curriculum (but not a stand alone) for how the water cycle works. The artwork is interesting and easy to show for a story time. The only thing I didn’t like was the use of the term ‘Honey’ to start some sentences -placed in such a way it gave off almost an attitude and took away from the lyrical flow.
