Ruthless, 248 pgs. Simon Pulse,
2015. $10.99 Content: Language: R (59 swears; 2 “F”);
Mature Content: PG-13; Violence: R.
Ruth
wakes up buried under dirt and is moving down the road in a truck bed. She has a concussion and is having a hard
time remembering what happened to her, but when the truck stops, she realizes
that she has been kidnapped by a man she calls Wolfman. As Ruth tries to outsmart Wolfman before she
gets killed, she flashes back to parts of her life before she was taken.
I read this in one night, it was impossible
to put down. That said it’s creepy and
intense with lots of content that is disturbing. Wolfman is a serial killer and a pervert,
which is hard to read about. The
violence is rated R because of its intensity and realness as well as the amount
of violence, but it is not necessarily super graphic.
