Los Gatos Black on Halloween by Marisa Montes- ADVISABLE

Montes, Marisa. Los Gatos Black on Halloween, PICTURE BOOK. Henry Holt and Company, 2006. $18.99. A group of Halloween creatures come out to parade down to a spooky house to have a big party. While all the witches, skeletons, and other spooky Halloween creatures enjoy the music and dancing they hear a knock on the door and are surprised by trick or treating children. There is nothing more scary to these monsters than children on Halloween and they run away as fast as they can. There are Spanish words scattered throughout this Halloween book and they flow incredibly well with the story. The Spanish and English words are nicely combined. The rhyming text has good pacing and variety of Halloween concepts. There is a glossary of Spanish pronunciation and definitions at the end of the book. EL- ADVISABLE.
