Flood, Ciara. Those Pesky Rabbits, PICTURE BOOK. Little Bee Books, 2015. $16.99. Content: G.
When you enjoy your alone time as much as Bear does, it could be fairly irritating if new neighbors move in right next door. A family of rabbit neighbors who really want to be friends. They come by to ask for honey, which you say you don’t have (but really have a stockpile of in the kitchen). They come by to ask for some help chopping wood (which you’re really good at), but you say no. Eventually they ask you to swap books with them and watch shooting stars and you growl so much that they’re scared away. If you are like Bear, you will begin to feel regretful when the rabbits bring you a gift of honey and wood and a book that you can enjoy all on your own. You will miss those rabbits and decide that you want to spend time with them after all.
The pictures in this book are great! The story is a great reminder that even though we like things the way they are it’s always nice to have company at least sometimes.
