Kuhlman, Torben. Moletown, PICTURE BOOK. NorthSouth, 2015. $17.95. A book written mostly in pictures, Moletown shows the progression of an underground mole village from the earliest beginning to a bustling metropolis. It starts as a lush green meadow and ends as a gray, pollution-ridden patch of dirt with a small square of grass partitioned off. The cover of this book makes it very inviting. The illustrations are well done, but I feel like it needs a little more explanation. Not necessarily even words on every single page, but maybe just here and there, for some clarification. I couldn’t quite tell if part of the point of the story was to warn us of the danger of overpopulation and not paying enough attention to our environment. Maybe it was, maybe it wasn’t.
