Bentley, Jonathan. Little
Big. Eerdmans Book for Young
Readers, 2015. $16.00. PICTURE BOOK.
The main character is little and he wants to be big. If he were big like a giraffe he could beat
his older brother in a race. If he were
big like a gorilla he could open the cookie jar and eat as many as he’d
like. If he were big like a crocodile he
could tell his big brother to go to bed early.
But he then his brother couldn’t tell him stories after dinner. He would be too big to fit in his playhouse
and too ride in his wagon. Being little
is perfect for playing in the wagon, playhouse, and making a blanket fort with
his big brother. He’s perfectly little.
This book is perfect for all children who
have ever wished to be bigger. The story
and illustrations combined are wonderfully imaginative. Author/illustrator, Jonathan Bentley, used watercolors,
stencils, and scanned textures to create a unique style that is sure to find
universal appeal with readers.
Pre-K-ADVISABLE.
