Duke, Kate. In the Rainforest, PICTURE BOOK. Harper, 2014. $17.99. This is an informational picture book about various aspects of the rainforest. There are lots of diagrams, vocabulary explanations, and factual labeled illustrations about the parts of the rainforest, plants, and animals that you can find there. There are more resources listed in the back, as well as instructions for a do-it-yourself terrarium. This isn’t the kind of picture book for a read aloud, per se, but what an awesome additional material to have available in your classroom. The storyline of children visiting the rainforest, the illustrations, and all the factual information, were so engaging. I thought it was presented very well and would be good to read straight through but is also set up in a way that would make it great to skip around in for particular information. EL- ESSENTIAL.
