Reynolds, Peter H.
The Smallest Gift of Christmas. PICTURE
BOOK. Candlewick, 2013. $14.
Content: G.
Roland’s Christmas
present is much too small and he wishes for himself a bigger and bigger gift,
following his wish straight into space. As
he moves away from Earth, he sees it becoming tinier and tinier and realizes
that Earth is where he can find everything he loves. From extravagant Christmas greediness to a
longing for family and home. This simple
sweet message kind of comes over like a smack on the head, though if you start
early, then it may not seem so pedantic as they get older.
