O’Connor, George Artemis: Wild Goddess of the Hunt (Olympians) 75 pgs. First Second, 2017. $9.99 Content: Language: G (0 swears); Mature Content: PG13 Violence: PG
When a woman named Leto has an affair with the mighty (and married) Zeus, she has two children, Artemis and Apollo. Eventually the trio is reunited with Zeus and they all live together on Mt. Olympus. Hera, the wife of Zeus is none too pleased about the arrangement. Zeus gives his daughter Artemis everything she ask for; the animals, the wild lands, the moon, and the freedom from marriage. One day a man grows close to Artemis and she has to decide if she is going to keep her vow.
I have thoroughly enjoyed reading this ongoing series and I think middle and high school readers will enjoy it too. The artwork is top notch and the stories are well research and told with care. For students who were fans in elementary school of greek/roman mythology, this series is a must have. This is not a book (or series) for elementary readers, there are near naked scenes, affairs, killings, and more.
