Giacomo lives by himself in the sewers of Virenzia to escape
joining the Supreme Creator’s army and to keep his artwork a secret. But on
this night, Giacomo is forced to the surface for more supplies. Giacomo gets
the supplies that he needs and barely escapes with his life as he returns to
his secret home with a new friend that will change his life forever: his own
genius.
Giacomo’s story started out as a tangled web, but I loved the picture
it created for me as I continued reading and unravelling it. The world that
DiMartino creates is a unique one, and I love his play with the ancient Greek
idea of artists having geniuses that would help them create. Also, the drawings
by Giacomo that are included might have been my favorite part of reading this
book.
