Stick dog and his dog friends are not enjoying a heat wave, even the water from the creek is warm. Stick Dog hatches a plan to find cold clear water and the entire group travels through the forest to find it. After causes havoc with some sprinklers, the dogs discover ice cream and create a new plan to try to get more than just drippy puddles of it. Features lined pages with interspaced text and lots of simple illustrations.
I think this could book could have easily been much shorter, the plot is quite drawn out with long pauses and circular mini-plots. If it were shorter it would be more accessible to those younger grade readers who would enjoy the simple characters and their junk food obsession. Older readers who this format and size would appeal to, even lower level readers, would be bored by the plotline. I thoroughly did not enjoy reading this book.
