Cosmoe the Earth Boy and Big Humphree own a space ship food
truck that serves hot dogs. For a contest they make a giant hot dog, and its
stolen! They end up with the thief on their ship, an evil queen on their tail
and more than they bargained for. Things amp up when they find a ‘treasure’ map
and accidentally let the whole galaxy know they have one. Now they are in a race
to gather the pieces to solve the puzzle, get away from the queen and stay out
of the sight of their fellow treasure hunters. Every single page is fully
illustrated, sort of comic style, with lots of action and variety.
I would have rated this book as Essential except for the
inclusion of many awkward fake swears and tons of super cringe worthy uses of
the word 'Butt'. Honestly its such a great book, but it feels like someone asked
the author to go back in and ‘gross’ it up, which ended up with the same feel
of an aging adult using teenage slang in a bad sitcom. Luckily it’s not too
often, but it could have easily been excluded. This is the perfect book for a
reluctant reader, its filled with top notch illustrations, its fast paced, fun,
interesting, creative, and has a bit heart! I dreaded reading this book because
of the title, I thought it would very nonsensical and silly, but I found I
loved this book!
