Book three of this series, it consists of two separate stories.
In the first story Tom, his best friend Pradeep, and his evil scientist brother
Mark go on a camping trip. Of course, Tom secretly brought his Zombie Goldfish
Frankie. It looks like there might be a monster in the woods. Luckily the camp
leaders are a hunter and an adventurer, so they might have some help. But when
Frankie goes missing, things seem to be getting worse for Tom. In the second
story, Pradeep’s little sisters tortoise goes missing, so the boys and Frankie
help her to create a missing poster. Turns out pets all over town have gone
missing as well. They decide, reluctantly to use Frankie as bait to help solve
the mystery. Features tons of cartoon like illustrations.
I get the fart, burp, and vomit jokes that are popular in books
for reluctant readers today and half the time I think they are funny, but a
booby joke, even turning out to be the bird, is just not ok for a kids book. I
have disliked reading this series, this being the third book I have read.
Although it has a lot of cover and zombie appeal for young readers, its just
average on storyline. There are better written options for reluctant readers…see
my review of My Zombie Hamster…
