Brown, Monica. Waiting for the Biblioburro, PICTURE BOOK. Tricycle Press, 2016. $16.99. Ana has one very special book, a gift from her teacher, that she loves to read. Her Teacher has moved away and Ana longs to read more books, but doesn’t have any more available to her. One day she hears a noise outside and runs to find a man riding with two burros. The burros have books strapped to their backs. All the children are so excited to have a book read to them, get to practice their alphabet, learn more about libraries. Ana waits and waits for the librarian to come back to her village and when she gets impatient, she writes her own book about the biblioburros. He takes her book along with him to share with other readers at hi stops. This book has both the English text and the Spanish text side by side. The story gives a great look into different versions of libraries and learning in a different part of the world. The pictures are interesting to look at and children will relate to Ana’s excitement about books. PRE-K, EL (K-3)-ADVISABLE. Reviewed by Shay, School Librarian
