12 year old Clara lives in Evanston, ; her sister named Lola hasdied. Clara finds a note in which has a picture of a family and the note. Kids are trapped in a factory and are forced to sew all day, everyday. They have to sleep on cement floors and get barely get any food. The children are kidnapped and brought to this mysterious place. Clara has to figure out what to do.

I loved the book it was very interesting and how it brought back facts from the 1920’s when kids had to work in factories in China. The book was very descriptive about feeling like you were in Beijing, China. In the book it talks about China and how the kids had to sew everyday without breaks. It was very moving and showed how those kids had to suffer.
