Ripley, Tim Torpedoes, Missiles, and Cannons: Physics Goes to War, 48 pages. NON-FICTION.
Lerner, 2018. $20. ‘
This book reads like a history of warfare weaponry from bows
and arrows, to rockets, to machines guns, lasers, the atomic bomb, and more. It
doesn’t include that much that relates these topics to physics, but there are
some mentions. It includes charts, maps, diagrams, photographs, and interesting
fact blurbs.
This book wasn’t as interesting to me as the Codes book from
the same series, it didn’t seem to make much of an effort to tie to physics. I
am sure my war book fans will love this book though –as they always love the
swords book I have. Add this to your library if you have weaponry fans –they will
get a big dose of interesting history as they read.
