Mighty Tug by Alyssa Satin Capucilli - OPTIONAL

Capucilli, Alyssa Satin Mighty Tug, illustrated by David Mottram.  PICTURE BOOK.  Simon and Schuster, 2018. $18.  9781481476812

Mighty Tug helps the boats in the New York harbor.  He cheerfully goes about tugging boats to their slips or guiding them through the harbor.  He also helps in an emergency when a boat is on fire.  At the end of the day he makes a wish that the harbor will be peaceful.

The illustrations in this book are super cute.  Mighty Tug is a smiling hard working tugboat who is confident in his duties and loves the harbor and other ships.  My only issue with the story is that the rhyming is all over the place-sometimes it rhymes and reads smooth, other times it almost rhymes and some pages don’t rhyme at all.  This is a cute book for boat lovers and the onomatopoeia's are fun to read aloud.

EL (K-3) – OPTIONAL.  Reviewer, C. Peterson.
