Ben
learned in book one that he is a Dream Jumper –he can control things that
happen in dreams. In this second book, Ben and his best friend Jake have
started a business to help kids who are having nightmares to overcome them. But
something isn’t quite right in the dream world –Jake’s powers seem a bit off –and
a mysterious someone is helping him out. Then Jake is able to bring something
out of the dream world. The mysteries keep piling up, will Ben be able to
figure it out before its too late?
I
wasn’t a big fan of the first book and wasn’t too thrilled to read this second
one. I am not a fan of nightmares and while this book has a theme of overcoming
them, it still just doesn’t sit that well with me. I found the story kind of disturbing
actually –especially some of the imagery. The author uses some fairly authentic
humor to balance it with the use of a lot of Hecks (which my students would be
reporting to me with horror). Scary books are popular but this one has that
hopeless edge that I don’t care for.
