To the Moon! by Gina Bellisario -ESSENTIAL

Bellisario, Gina To the Moon! 24 pgs. Millbrook (Lerner), 2017.  $19.99.  Content: G.

Neil is a young student who is at a planetarium. He wishes he could have some moon rocks for his science fair project. In his imagination suddenly he is an astronaut on the moon. He meets an android, collects moon rocks, learns about craters, gravity, and many other things. Features bright well drawn illustrations on every page.

I am a big fan of this format; I find that students enjoy learning facts while being told an interesting story. Younger grade teachers would use this series extensively if I had it in the library. This book would be the perfect accompaniment to an activity about the moon phases, because this would teach them everything else they needed to know about the moon.  It has cover appeal and could be chosen and read by a first or second grader on their own.
