Sparky was born over a hundred years ago during the time of the
Great Chicago Fire. She is a fire dog back in the time when a fire dog really
meant something, and the fire house couldn't survive without her help! It was
her job to help the horses stay calm and do their job; The horses would often
get easily spooked and run away from the fire.
A charming story that will
capture the attention of young and older readers that love animals and history.
These are similar to the I Survived series in that they are historical
fiction and readers will easily dive into them and the series. Each book has a
different dog during the time of an important historical event. As an educator,
I appreciate stories that are engaging and teach readers about real events.
