Megan McKnight eats, sleeps, and dreams of nothing but
making the Women's National Soccer team. As a star striker for Southern
Methodist University, she has one season to prove herself. Unfortunately,
Megan's plans get derailed when her mother announces that Megan and her twin
sister Julia will be debuting as Texas Bluebonnet Debutantes. Determined
not to let her soccer dreams disappear, Megan must juggle soccer practices,
decorum classes, lavish parties, romance and wade through the battle grounds of
scandal in order to succeed.
Touted as a modern re-telling of Pride and Prejudice, this
story is very loosely based on the original. As an Austen fan, this
re-telling was not my favorite. Had the author not thrown in some iconic
phrasing from the original story, I wouldn't have known it was based on Pride and
Prejudice. The main characters are in their 20's and the language and
mature content is representative of this age group. I felt this one
should be marketed to an older audience rather than YA.
