George Discovers Plants Houghton Mifflin
Harcourt, 2016. $6.99 PICTURE BOOK Content: G.
George and the man in the yellow hat go to
their favorite restaurant and when they order vegetable soup, they learn that
the chef has run out of veggies. Chef
takes them up on his rooftop and shows George and the man in the yellow hat
where he grows his food. He shows George
his weeds and when George comes back later to help pull the weeds, he pulls out
the Chef’s veggies. George tries to
correct his mistake and learns how plants grow.
The story line of this book was fun and George is adorable as
always. There are sidebars throughout
that give facts about plants, which can be distracting when trying to read the
story, but are interesting. There is a
word missing in one of the sentences, which makes it confusing for new readers,
but other than that it is a cute book.
