Molly O’Doon releases a red balloon hoping to find a friend. The balloon travels high and far until it
finds a Katie McCloat. Katie reads the
note on the red balloon and finds her own new friend (who lives not too high or
too far away). The rhyme and meter make
this title a natural read aloud. The fun
twist at the end is sure to appeal to children.
Illustrator Maria Bogade cleverly combines black and white drawings with
bold beautifully colored ones. The
overall effect is eye-catching and original.
