Butterworth, Chris Sea Horse: The Shyest Fish in the Sea illustrated by John Lawrence 26 pgs. Candlewick Press, 2010. NON-FICTION. $8.99. Although this book was published previously, this is a newly published version that is accompanied by an audio CD. Students can read along as they listen to the story, and they can also learn more about Barbour Sea Horses from the bonus informational track. The story describes the life of a sea horse from when they are first created to when they are fully grown. I thought the description of the mating part was kind of weird as it described them "dancing till sunset." Interesting though that male sea horses are the ones who carry and give birth to the babies. The illustrations are unique and have a very earthy, mellow tone to them. EL-OPTIONAL. Whitney, Library-Teacher.
