I found that I really enjoyed four of these thirteen stories -- including the opening and concluding ones. Some of the stories are more odd than scary, a couple are scary enough to encourage a nightlight, and all of them make you stop and think for a moment: if something were going to get me today, what would happen? That lingering impression at the end of the book is what I like the most about having read it.
