BUYING ADVISORY: EL, MS – OPTIONAL

AUDIENCE APPEAL: AVERAGE

Middle school student, Nora Tucker has had her summer plans interrupted because two men escaped the local prison.  Nora takes the situation and applies her love of journalism to report on the escalating situation in her town.  She plans on using her reports in the time capsule for her Wolf Creek community.  As Nora and her friends gather information, Nora starts to realize that there are two sides to every story.

The format used in this story is a collection of notes, recordings and written articles.  Nora tries to be a good journalist and she is likable.  I felt like the story drug on for awhile and with the premise of escaped convicts I thought there would be more action.  The ending was exciting, but it took forever to get to it.  Overall it needed a better editing job.
