With a dying stepfather unwavering in his determination to leave Amelia and her sister, Clara, destitute, Amelia knows that this invitation to visit Sir Robert is their best chance to make a match. Amelia determinedly supports Clara in her desires to win over Sir Robert, even when it means spending time with an insufferable man, Peter. But is two weeks enough time to secure a marriage?

Walker uses foreshadowing well enough to let the readers know what is coming while still withholding how and with whom it will happen. I was dreading the climax with every page I flipped, only to be proven wrong in some of my assumptions and pleased by a much more satisfying scene than I imagined. The messages of trust, open communication, and love are well articulated as Amelia expresses her own thoughts and allows herself to change.
