Adler, David A. Pass the Ball, Mo! Illustrated by Sam Ricks
EARLY READER Penguin Young Readers, 2018. $15. Content: G.
Mo likes thinking about and playing
basketball. As the smallest guy on the
team, he has a hard time passing high enough to the other players. During the game, Mo sits on the bench until
the end when the score is close and the other teammates are getting tired. Coach puts Mo in and in an attempt to pass
the ball high enough to his teammate, he makes a basket and wins the game.
Mo is an adorable character that my kids
love, especially Don’t Throw it to Mo.
This book isn’t my favorite because it’s totally unbelievable-the coach
wouldn’t sit Mo on the bench during the whole game, just to put him in when the
score is close. Also, you would have to
be pretty bad at basketball to make a hoop while trying to pass to a teammate-whether
you are short or not. So as far as the
Mo books go, you can pass on this one.
