Kitty arrives at school like usual one morning but quickly
turns into a hot worried mess when she discovers her teacher is out sick. There
are countless things that only her teacher can do to make school go smoothly,
so they might as well all go home too! However, she decides to take the high
road, step up and be a helper to her peers and the substitute teacher; Kitty
asks for help from her friends when she needs it, too. The day turns out okay
and she can only hope her teacher is back tomorrow!
This is a fun picture book that many young readers will
instantly relate to--the first time you have a substitute teacher it can be
terrifying! The text is written in a playful rhyming cadence and the
illustrations are bright and fun. Its a really fun read aloud and teachers of
lower grades would be wise to utilize this in their classrooms to help calm
fears about an absence before the need arises.
