Sookocheff, Carey Wet. PICTURE BOOK. Godwin Books (Henry Holt & Co.), 2017. $16.99. Content: G
Sookocheff explores many different ways to get wet, from swimming (or just wading) in a pool to splashing (or falling!) in a puddle.
The illustrations are simple and clear and get the point across well. I tried it as a read-aloud with my second-graders, and it worked very well, especially when I had them close their eyes first and picture all the different ways to get wet, so they could compare their ideas with Sookocheff's. (We are beginning to discuss comparing and contrasting in literature.) While it pairs well with The Loud Book by Deborah Underwood, my students actually preferred this one, much to my surprise.
