Gutman, Dan. My Weird School, Class Pet Mess, PICTURE BOOK. Harper, 2017. $16.99. Alexia really doesn’t want a bunny for a class pet. She convinces some of the other students to vote for a snake. The snake vote wins and Alexia is asked to feed it for the week. She feeds it one day and then forgets for the rest of the week. When the snake gets scared and plays dead, she thinks she has killed it. Little did the class know, this kind of snake has a very realistic mechanism and it’s not Alexia’s fault at all. The main character annoyed me in this. She hates a lot of things and people and doesn’t listen to the teacher at all. Kids aren’t usually grouches who dislike everything. EL (K-3)- OPTIONAL.
