When Bear invites Mouse over for his first Christmas party,
he is fixated on pickles and Poems.
Mouse, however, is fixated on presents.
Bear will get his way, testing Mouse’s patience all along the way.
I wish this had ended with Mouse realizing that the presents
are the icing, not the cake for the Christmas celebration – as is, it is an ode
to Christmas presents. As much as I like
the friendship and interplay between Bear and Mouse and the beautiful
illustrations, the message falls short.
