Poles Apart by Jeanne Willis, illustrated by Jarvis - ADVISABLE

Willis, Jeanne.  Poles Apart, illustrated by Jarvis.  PICTURE BOOK.  Nosy Crow (Candlewick), 2016.  $15.99.  Content: G.

Everybody knows that polar bears live at the North Pole and penguins live at the South Pole.  But a family of penguins takes a picnic the wrong direction and ends up at the North Pole.  They meet Mr. White, a polar bear who has always dreamed of being first polar bear to see the South Pole.  The penguins invite him to come along as they journey to find the North Pole and finally have their picnic.  They pass through the United States, England, Italy, India, and Australia before finding the South Pole.  Mr. White heads back home to the North Pole, but find a stowaway in his hat.

A charming story of an unlikely friendship.  The digital illustrations are unique and eye-catching.  The reader will adore the penguin family and their new friend the polar bear.
