Felix, Rebecca Mini Science Fun. 32 pgs. Lerner,
2017. $19.99. Content: G.
This how-to book helps young readers create mini-crafts based on
science experiments, as well as a mini science lab scene. Featured project
include a tiny volcano eruption, a wee water cycle, and a mini eco system.
Each chapter details the material needed, simple instructions,
and many progression photographs.
This is a well-crafted how-to book, but the concept is a bit
unusual. The budding scientists at my school do not want to go mini, they want
to go big, with rockets and giant volcanoes. The students who I have that might
be into mini crafts and how-to books want to make dog toys, origami, or
bracelets. I just think this book would be a tough sell.
