Lindeen, Mary Frozen Frogs and other amazing Hibernators 40
pgs. Lerner, 2017. $19.99. Content: G.
This book features detailed information about five creatures and
their hibernation; frogs, lemurs, snails, snakes, and turtle. It also features smaller
blurbs about many other animals that hibernate or have some variation of
hibernation. There are many relevant and high quality photographs as well as interesting
facts scattered throughout.
I really liked this book and it would be perfect for a lesson on
hibernation. However, the cover makes it appear, especially to students, but
also to teachers doing a quick shelf search, that is it only about Frogs, which
is very misleading. Why not simply title this book Hibernating Creatures or something
basic? The cover image is incredibly unappealing and dark, if this book had a
hibernating lemur on the cover or a snake, something students are actually
interested in, there is higher potential for students to check this out on
their own. I might add this book to my collection if I needed a hibernation
book, because the content is top notch.
