Paddington at the Circus by Michael Bond- ADVISABLE

Bond, Michael Paddington at the Circus. HarperCollins Publishers, 2016. $17.99. PICTURE BOOK.

When Paddington is at the market, he spies a clown on the corner advertising the WORLD’S GREATEST CIRCUS, ONE NIGHT ONLY. Paddington hurries home to tell the Brown family.  Luckily they already had tickets and front-row seats! Paddington finds every facet of the circus entertaining- even the ice cream cones.  But when he sees a trapeze artist, Paddington mistakes the artist as in trouble and hurries to the rescue because “bears are good at climbing.” Before Paddington realizes it, he has climbed up the ladder and is perched on a small stand.  Everyone in the audience begins to clap because they are sure that Paddington is part of the show.  That is just the beginning of a series of mishaps that occur in which Paddington unexpectedly becomes the star of the show.  The ringmaster invites him to take part in the Grand Parade at the end of the performances.

This is a fun Paddington adventure that will have little ones smiling and wanting more.  The illustrations are magical and so incredibly detailed.
