Hodgkinson, Leigh The Big Monster Snorey
Book Nosy Crow (Candlewick), 2015. $16.99 PICTURE
BOOK
A little
monster records the sound of some really big monsters as they sleep noisily.
From snoring to clacking of toenails, they are a very loud group of sleeping
monsters. Now it’s time for the big monsters to wake up and they are very
hungry. Why did the little monster record the sounds and will that be enough to
save him from becoming breakfast?
Stellar
illustrations that are incredibly bright fill oversize pages. At first read, I thought
the story was really cute and fun, but the more I thought about it, I decided
that it would be great for a lesson on sound. Students could try out for the
roles and try to create the noises, then sort of act out the story as it was
being read. Would make a fun little play too!
