Collins, Ross There’s Bear on My Chair Nosy
Crow (Candlewick), 2016. $16.99 PICTURE BOOK
A mouse has a chair and when his back is turned, a big polar
bear sits on it. The mouse is very upset and tries tempting it away, yelling at
it, scaring it, and finally takes action. Features large pages with simple and
bright illustrations.
I love the illustrations, they are adorable! The author does a
creative job of keeping the rhyming going without using too many off the wall
words. But the story itself is kind of odd. Freaking out never solves anything,
neither does revenge (Even if it is also adorable). There is an Elvis reference
I don’t think 90% of children wouldn’t get and some of the vocabulary is high
for how simple the book is.
