There is a little boy who wants a pet that is easy to take care of and decides a book is just the thing! When he finds his own red book to love he is proven right, it is so easy to take care of and the stories it  tells are amazing. But one day it runs away and the boy realizes how very much like a pet his book had become.

With its bright eye catching cover, this book is sure to appeal to students. The rhyming is never forced with this creative author and the story is incredibly appealing and fun. Librarians like myself with love this idea that a book should be taken care of and treasured, just like a pet. The pages are large enough to share during a story time, but detailed enough that students will love to check it out and look at the fun inclusions.
