Godwin, Laura. Tanaka, Yoko. One Moon, Two Cats. 32 pgs. Atheneum Books for Young Readers, 2011. $16.99. Inside cover: “One moon. Two cats are not asleep. Across a great distance, but under the light of the same moon, a city cat and a country cat pounce and play, crouch and leap in a rollicking nighttime adventure.” We enjoyed this book. It didn’t take long for my son to realize that the cats featured in this story were from opposite lifestyles and he enjoyed comparing and contrasting the illustrations depicting their city or country homes. The text changes size as the excitement rises and makes this a great read-aloud book. The illustrations are wonderful. Pre-K. EL (K-3). ADVISABLE. Reviewer: SL.
