Witches’ Brew by Mary Labatt-ADVISABLE
Labatt, Mary, Witches’ Brew. Kids Can Press, 2011. Pgs. 95. GRAPHIC NOVEL. Language: G, Violence: G, Sexual Content: G
Sam and Jennie have unusual new neighbors! Three strange sisters that moved into the house across the street and keep toads on hand. When the weather starts getting wacky and the neighbors’ pets start disappearing, Sam and Jennie start to put the puzzles pieces together. Could their new neighbors be witches? Can Jennie keep Sam safe?
A cute, easy read for early chapter book readers. The illustrations are well-done. The text is simple and easy to understand. The ending is a little anti-climatic, but not unexpected. Readers who like Bailey School Kids books, mysteries, and adventure will enjoy reading this book.
