Hereafter by Tara Hudson - ADVISABLE

Hudson, Tara Hereafter, 250 p.  Harper, 2011.  Language: PG-13 (20 swears, ) ‘f’).  Amelia, 18, knows that she is dead, drowned, because she has relived that moment countless times.  That is, until the day the nightmare changes and instead of herself, she sees someone else, a boy – and he can see her.  Instead of being alone, Amelia now has Joshua, the boy she saved, who helps Amelia reconnect with humanity.  But there is also Eli, who desires her to be his apprentice, to help him drag others into the dark Hereafter in which he serves his masters.  Hudson weaves a nice dark tale with a little bit of hope and love.  The supernatural aspects and Amelia choices are more important than the romance – a nice balance.  MS, HS – ADVISABLE.
