The Lizard War (Battle Bugs #1) by Jack Patton –ADVISABLE

Patton, Jack The Lizard War (Battle Bugs #1) 128 pgs Scholastic, 2015.  $4.99.  Content: Language: G (0 swears) Mature Content: G Violence: G CHAPTER BOOK
A young boy named Max is a big fan of insects and is constantly learning more about them and keeping some as pets. One day his mom gives him an old book about insects and there is an interesting detailed map inside. When he takes a closer look with his magnifying glass, he falls into a world where he is as small as a insect, they can talk, and they desperately need his help.
This was a fun fast paced read that would appeal to future entomologists. Scattered throughout the book are tons of facts about real insects. I like that Max uses his knowledge to help rather than some magical ability. There are illustrations throughout. I see that other books in the series are very battle oriented, I wish there was more exploration and not as much war. Perfect for 1-2nd grade readers.
