The False Fairy by Jordan Quinn -- ADVISABLE

Quinn, Jordan The False Fairy, illustrated by Robert McPhillips. 119 pgs. CHAPTER BOOK. Simon & Schuster, 2016. $5.99. Content: G.

When Prince Lucas and his best friend Clara hear that all of the fairies but one have been enchanted by a mysterious spell, they don't know whether or not to believe the story. After all, the one who tells them is Falsk, also known as "The False Fairy." She lies and plays tricks at every opportunity. Still, Clara and Lucas have no choice but to let her lead them on an adventure. They must make sure the fairies are safe, even if it means being ensnared by one of the trickster's tales.

It feels as if this series is getting back on track, since the suspense and writing in this one are on par with those of the earlier books. With its short sentences and many illustrations, this is a good one for younger readers who are new to chapter books.
