Beauty and the Beast Illustrated
by Meg Park PICTURE BOOK Disney
Hyperion, 2017. $16.99 Content: G.
A father and his three daughters live a simple life. When the father’s
lost ship returns to the port he
goes to gather his merchandise, but finds it has all been stolen. As he is returning home, he gets tired and finds
a castle in the woods and takes a nap. After
he is fed and has rested he cuts a rose from the garden of the castle to take
to his youngest daughter. When he takes
the rose, a beast appears and tells the father he must be his servant, and the
father tells his youngest daughter who then takes his place. The daughter and the beast develop a
friendship and eventually love each other breaking the beasts curse.
This picture book has soft pastel illustrations
of the story of Beauty and the Beast.
Although the story has some different parts than the Disney animated
movie, it will be recognized by the readers.
The story concentrates more on the father’s part of the story than of
Beauty and the Beast at the castle. With
the new movie coming out this will be a big hit.
