Phantoms in the Snow by Kathleen Benner Duble-ESSENTIAL

Duble, Kathleen Benner. Phantoms in the Snow, 240 pgs.  Scholastic Press, 2011. $17.99. Language- G, Mature Content-PG, Violence- PG.  Noah comes from a family who doesn’t believe in war.  But when he is orphaned at age 15, he is sent to live with his uncle who is stationed at Camp Hale.  Noah must decide whether fighting in World War II is something he can do-emotionally and physically.   Having never fought in war and having never seen snow in his life, can Noah muster the courage and physical strength to endure?
This is a great book detailing the personal trials and challenges involved in war.  Noah’s adventure and experiences are fascinating and moving. This is an easy read and very captivating.  I enjoyed every page!
