and a very quick, one-sided fistfight).
Struts and Frets tells the story of a
musically gifted 17 year old as he struggles to find his place in life. While
juggling a band that is about one step away from either making it big or
self-destructing, Sammy finds love unexpectedly and deals with the mental
deterioration of his beloved kindred-spirit grandfather.
This book tries
it’s hardest to be jam packed with “indie cred” yet for a subculture that
cleaves to authenticity above all else, the book doesn’t feel authentic. No
life changing message or laugh/cry out loud moments, just a teenager being a
teenager. The language and sexual content, along with the lack of any real
message makes me say pass on this book.
